Cosmic Interacting Matters - From Source to Signal

Project MGK:
"Graduate School"

Project Description

The graduate school is an important pillar of the collaborative research center (CRC) to train and bring together the next generation of scientists.
The CRC uniquely connects four sub-disciplines: astro-, plasma-, particle-, and astroparticle physics. It will be crucial for the success of the CRC to ensure that scientists have a basic knowledge of more than one sub-discipline and learn to speak the same language.

The goal of the graduate school is to provide a framework for the early career researchers (ECR, PhD students and postdocs up to six years after graduation) to build a strong network and gain broad knowledge in the topics related to the CRC.
To reach this goal the graduate school offers a broad set of lectures at the three universities (Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Bergische Universität Wuppertal and Technische Universität Dortmund), together with an extensive offer of soft skills classes.
Furthermore, ECR are encouraged to invite speakers and organize workshops supported by CRC funding.

In summary, the overarching goal of the graduate school is to foster super-disciplinarity, independence, internationalization, and the career development of the ECRs.
